Buzzer Game Mode

Buzzer Game Mode lets players join from their phones and buzz when the host opens a question. The host sees the fastest responses in the Control Room, then awards points manually after hearing the answer.

What Buzzer Mode Does

Buzzer Game Mode adds a fast-response layer to a live QuizStage show. When a normal question opens, joined players see a large buzz button on their phones. After buzzing, they see confirmation with their rank and response time.

In the Control Room, the host sees the buzzer list sorted by fastest response. That makes it easy to call on the first player, hear their spoken answer, and score the result.

The public display continues to show the active question and game board context, so the whole room knows what is happening even though the buzzer results remain private to the host.

Why Hosts Use It

Buzzer rounds create energy. They work especially well when speed is part of the format: tie-breakers, bonus rounds, classroom review games, stage competitions, company event finales, and quick-fire trivia.

Phone buzzers also reduce the need for physical hardware. Players already have the device they need. The host only needs to show the join screen, let players connect, then open questions from the board.

Manual scoring is intentional. The fastest buzz does not always deserve points. A player may answer incorrectly, hesitate, or pass. The host stays in control and updates the score after deciding what happened in the room.

How It Works In QuizStage

Choose Buzzer as the show’s game mode in the Game Show Editor. Start a live session and show the join screen from the Control Room so players can scan or enter the live code.

When players have joined, open a normal question. Phones show the buzz button. The host sees responses appear in the Buzzer panel, sorted by response time. Click a buzzer row to find that player in the Players window, then update the score manually if they answer correctly.

Buzzer responses reset when the question closes, locks, changes, or the session resets. That keeps each question clean.
